Macroporous resin adsorption separation technology is a novel purification process that uses special adsorbents to selectively adsorb the effective components from decoctions of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound preparations, removing ineffective components. It can solve practical problems faced in TCM production, such as large dosages, product hygroscopicity, and heavy metal residues. The refined product obtained after macroporous resin adsorption treatment has a high concentration of active ingredients, few impurities, and an extraction yield of only 2-5% of the original drug, compared to approximately 30% by water decoction and 15% by alcohol precipitation. It effectively removes hygroscopic components, which is beneficial for the production of various TCM dosage forms and increases product stability. It also effectively removes heavy metals. The extract obtained by macroporous resin adsorption separation is small in volume, non-hygroscopic, and easily formulated into various aesthetically pleasing dosage forms, especially suitable for the production of granules, capsules, and tablets, upgrading crude, large, and dark TCM preparations into modern formulations. This technology will be one of the most significant and far-reaching technological advancements in TCM extraction processes.

System composition and characteristics
(1) The automated control system realizes the control and data acquisition of pumps, valves and various online detectors (flow transmitters, pressure transmitters), and can easily complete the four-column series and parallel operation to ensure the stability and accuracy of the process.
(2) Resin column structure The resin column structure is well designed with a reasonable height-to-diameter ratio, a precise inlet and outlet fluid distribution device, and is equipped with an automatic filling system and an air compression interface, which ensures the filling effect of the macroporous resin column and the regeneration effect of the filler, thus providing a guarantee for efficient separation.
By introducing computer-controlled automatic monitoring technology into the separation process, production can be programmed, testing can be automated, and transportation can be pipelined, thereby improving the reliability and repeatability of the equipment.

The system can detect conventional process parameters such as flow rate, pressure, temperature, pH value (optional), and conductivity (optional), and can also use ultraviolet spectroscopy (optional) and near-infrared spectroscopy (optional) to detect the content of effective parts (or components) of traditional Chinese medicine in real time.
